Astronomical Clock (Astronomische Uhr)

The astronomical clock at the Town Hall of Ulm is a masterpiece of mediaeval horology.

Constructed in 1581 by the principal clockmaker of the times, Isaak Habrecht of Strasburg, the magnificent and detailed design of the zodiac, the clock hand and clock face are really impressive.
However, on second glance, the clock impresses even more by the way it functions and the multitude of information it can provide. At least 15 different astronomical data and events can be read, assuming the observer understands how to interpret the position of the hands and the zodiac.

It is useful to use binoculars, so that the many details of the clock can be fully appreciated.
