The Danube-Swabian Central Museum
“Spaces, times, people” – the DZM (“The Donauschwäbische Zentralmuseum), offers a journey of discovery to the South East and to the people in this part of Europe. The permanent exhibition comprises 26 sections, illustrating the varied life of the Danube Swabians in the 20th century, from nationalism via the World Wars up to views of Rumania, Hungary and the states succeeding Yugoslavia from 1989.
Covering a total of 1500 square meters, original exhibits, historical documents and several hundred photographs illustrate their culture and everyday life. Multivision and interactive media are also integrated into the exhibition.
The museum tells the story of life in the villages and towns, work on the farms and in the industries, the living conditions and clothing, education and religion. Above all, it reflects the cultural diversity of South East Europe. |
