The Weishaupt Art Gallery (Kunsthalle Weishaupt)
The “Kunsthalle Weishaupt” is Ulm´s latest art gallery. Opened in November 2007, it is a platform for the art collector and industrialist Siegfried Weishaupt to present his entire art collection to the public for the first time.
The first exhibition 'Einfach sehen' (“Simply see”) is a recapitulation of 40 years of collecting and is a stroll through the artwork of the last 60 years. Currently a total of 70 works by 50 artists are on exhibition. World famous artists such as Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein or Nam June Paik are represented here.
The stark geometric outlines of the museum, designed by the Munich architect Wolfram Wöhr form the last component to complete “Ulms Neuer Mitte” (the New Centre of Ulm), which once more connects the old town by the Danube with that around the Minster.
